Pray for Your Nation to Become a Sheep Nation
When Yeshua returns, He is going to sit down on His glorious throne in Jerusalem. The Bible says that all the nations will stream to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem which "will be raised above the hills" and, "He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples." (Isa 2:4)
In Matt. 25:31-33 Jesus expresses it this way, "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left."
The basis for Yeshua's judgment of the nations when they appear before Him in Jerusalem, will be how these nations have treated "the least of these brothers of mine" (Mt 25:40) Try to picture the scene. The kingdom has been restored to Israel. The fallen tent of David has been rebuilt again. All of Israel is saved, and Jesus is seated for ever on the throne of His father David in Jerusalem, the City of the Great King. Jesus was born "King of the Jews." He died as "King of the Jews" and He will return as "King of the Jews" to their City, when they welcome Him. (Mt 23:37-39)
When Jesus speaks of "the least of these brothers of mine", it is pretty clear that He is referring to the Jewish people, His own brothers after the flesh. Those nations that have been merciful towards the Jews and helped them in their suffering from anti Semitism and persecution among the nations will be welcomed into His kingdom, while those nations that have not been helping them will perish. "The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.' " (Mt 25:40)
Individuals are judged by God, based on their relationship to Yeshua the Messiah. Nations are judged based on their relationship to the Jewish people.
We want to encourage you in your intercession for your own nation's relationship to Israel. Even though the Bible clearly says that all nations will gather against Jerusalem in the last days, there will be some nations that will be "sheep nations", based on how people in these nations have treated the Jews, and these nations will enter Messiah's Millenial kingdom. "Then the survivors from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD Almighty, and to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles." (Zech 14:16) But Isa 60:12 says, "For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish; it will be utterly ruined."
We cannot pray against God's will clearly outlined in the Bible. Ps 2:1-2 says, "Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth take their stand and the rulers gather together against the LORD and against his Anointed One." In the last days the leaders and rulers of the earth will come together in a worldwide uproar against God, ultimately led by the anti Christ. UN for example, represents an anti God agenda and the nations, willingly or not, will be swept into that.
Today the world powers seek representation also from EU and Russia to get full authority from "the world community." Desert Storm was the first example of worldwide military cooperation against one nation. It is hard to predict exactly what the end time worldwide "unit" will look like. But it is coming and it WILL turn against Israel. Some nations will totally rally behind this world unity, while other nations will be more or less forced against their own will into it. The people in those nations will have no say about it.
Let us take the example of the United States. We see a strong influence on the United States government to be drawn into a worldwide coalition to deal with the problems in the Middle East. Colin Powell is calling for a summit this summer, also involving UN, EU and Russia. These power bases are far less supportive of Israel than the United States.
At the same time support for Israel inside the US is growing. Both the House and the Senate voted with overwhelming majority recently, in full support of Israel's war on terrorism. Who will President Bush yield to? UN and meetings with international leaders on his farm in Texas, or democratically elected bodies in his own nation like the House and the Senate?
Decisions are becoming more and more internationalized and centralized. Eventually the leaders of the nations will unite against God, and come against Israel. At the same time God is rasing up the Church, to become Israel's greatest ally. God will not take out the Church until she has fulfilled her mandate to provoke Israel to jealousy. It must be fulfilled. Paul clearly says in Rom 11:11, "salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious."
